From Domaine La Garagista: A Note from the Month of JuneA few thoughts from the vineyard, the table, and the long days of early summer.
Late June
Now that the Spring into Summer wines have found their way to your tables, we just wanted to say thank you.
It was a joy to see so many of you at Bar No'ella and over the course of pickup days. Those moments—sharing coffee and sparkling wine, catching up between bottles and flowers, seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones—are some of our favorite parts of the season. They remind us that wine is never really finished when it leaves the cellar. It only becomes complete when it is opened and shared.
Bar No'ella, June.
June has been full and green here. The vineyards are lush and demanding now, asking for attention almost daily. We spent last weekend in Brattleboro speaking about wine and climate change at the Brattleboro Museum, a conversation that left us thinking again about how fortunate we are to farm and make wine in community, and how much hope there is in tending places and relationships over time.
Meanwhile, summer has begun to shift at the table. The Solstice has arrived. Lunches stretch a little longer. The first herbs are abundant. Caleb has been leaning into simple meals: grilled vegetables, beans, aioli, arugula gathered from the garden, and a loaf of good bread set out without much ceremony. We've found ourselves opening bottles almost instinctively—perhaps the Lupo in Bocca with a chunk of that bread with butter and anchovies, or The Beguiled with an evening meal of pasta shared outdoors while the light lingers.
We hope the wines have begun to settle into your own rhythms and meals and gatherings. If you've opened wines, drop us a line to let us know what you are serving with them.
Summer meals beginning to shift.
Thank you for being part of this season with us. We think of The Forêt Wine Guild not so much as a membership, but as a circle of friends who help carry these vineyards and their stories forward.
If you still need to pick-up wines, just reply to this email, and we'll help facilitate. We want to be sure you get your bottles to enjoy!
Wishing you a beautiful beginning to summer,
Deirdre & Caleb
